How to Use the Design Browser in eXPerience 8 Embroidery Software

Step 1: Access the Design Browser
Open eXPerience 8 and locate the Design Browser from the Welcome tab or the Window drop-down menu. This opens a new tab displaying your hard disks, USB drives, and folders.
Step 2: Navigate Drives and Folders
Use the Design Browser to explore your computer’s storage, similar to a standard file browser. Navigate through folders to locate design files supported by eXPerience 8.
Step 3: Filter Supported Files
Filter designs by selecting either artwork (graphics) or embroidery files. Enable the respective filter to hide unsupported file types, making it easier to find relevant designs.
Step 4: Preview and Open Designs
Click a design to view its preview in the preview area. Double-click to open the design in a new tab, keeping the browser tab accessible for further navigation.
Step 5: Customize the Preview Area
Resize the preview area by dragging its left edge or hide it using the arrow button. Adjust preview size with the track bar for a better view.
Step 6: Adjust Thumbnail Views
Modify thumbnail sizes using the track bar. Choose from Minimal mode (icon only), Normal view (with design names), or Detailed view (with dimensions, colors, and stitches).
Step 7: Explore Browser Components
The Navigation area includes Favorites, Recents, and Devices sections. Favorites show preferred locations, Recents list recently accessed folders, and Devices display internal and external storage.
Step 8: Manage Favorites
Add a folder to Favorites by right-clicking and selecting “Add to Favorites.” Use “Scan directory” to find sub-folders with supported designs or scan an entire drive. Remove folders via the right-click menu.
Step 9: Use File Management Tools
Right-click designs or folders to access options like copy, paste, rename, or open in File Explorer/Finder. These tools mirror standard file management functions.
Step 10: Select Multiple Designs
Hold Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac) to select multiple designs individually. Use Shift to select a range of designs. Click and drag to move files or folders.
Step 11: Utilize the Address Bar
Navigate folders via the Address Bar by clicking folder names, typing/pasting paths, or using arrow buttons to move back and forth. Copy or paste folder paths as needed.
Step 12: Search for Designs
Use the search bar to find specific designs within the current folder, streamlining the process of locating files.
